The Basic Gravity Feed Kit consists of professional grade drip irrigation parts that contain the same components used by professional landscapers. All the parts in this kit are compatible with each other, allowing for a smooth installation. This kit is flexible and is easy to modify and change. This kit is designed to operate from a non-pressurized water source, such as a stand-alone water tank, etc.

	1/4" Vinyl Tubing (100 ft.)	This tubing is used to extend your drip/micro sprinkler coverage from your mainline (½” tubing). It is connected to ½” tubing with a ¼” barbed connector. Recommended to use no more than 30 ft. from main line.	1	PQBV
	1/2" Polyethylene Tubing (50 ft.)	This tubing is usually used as the main line for your irrigation system. It can be used above or just below the surface. Recommended to use no more than 300 ft. from water source. (.620" x .710")	1	500T50
	1 GPH Pressure Compensating Emitter	A 1 GPH pressure compensating emitter is used on ½” tubing or at the end of ¼” vinyl tubing. It releases a gallon of water per hour equally, anywhere on the system.	20	PCP10
	1/4" Connector	A ¼” barbed connector is used to transfer water from ½” tubing to ¼” tubing by punching a hole in the ½” tubing and inserting the connector. You can also use it to connect two pieces of ¼” tubing.	20	C250
	Goof Plug	A goof plug can be inserted into an unwanted hole in ½” tubing. It can also be used as an end cap at the end of ¼” vinyl tubing. A goof plug has two different sides for use in smaller or bigger holes.	10	GP
	1/2" End Cap	A ½” compression end cap (.620" x .710") is used at the end of ½” tubing to stop the flow of water. You can also unscrew the thread cap to flush your system.	1	CETC
	Plastic V-Stake	A plastic V-stake is used to secure ¼” vinyl tubing to the ground.	20	S6
	Metal Stake	A metal stake is used to hold down ½” tubing along the soil's surface. It can also secure ¼” vinyl tubing.	10	S3
	Key Punch (Industrial)	An industrial-grade punch is used to create holes in ½” tubing in order to insert emitters, bubblers, connectors with ¼” vinyl tubing, and other components; it eases installation of your irrigation system.	1	HP125
	3/4" Y-Filter	A ¾” male pipe thread Y-Filter is used to prevent dirt from entering and clogging your drip irrigation system and components. It uses a mesh screen to remove any dirt in the water. Recommended to clean and flush the filter every 60 days. It is easier to clean than the inline filter, because of its Y-shaped design.	1	AFF
	3/4" Female Pipe Threaded Compression Swivel Adapter	A ¾” FPT compression swivel adapter is used to connect a ¾” male water irrigation device (filter/pressure regulator) to ½” tubing.	1	CHS

Kit Installation

Plan:
After you purchase a Basic Gravity Feed Drip Irrigation Kit, you should plan the layout of your system. Before assembling, map out the path of your ½” tubing. Focus on getting this mainline tubing as near to the plants as possible, remembering that a curvy (“S” shaped”) layout may be the most effective.

Your kit is intended to run from and be connected to a standard garden hose faucet.

Your kit can be organized into three different categories:
    1. Manifold (In order)
        a. ¾” Y-filter
        b. ¾” Female Hose Thread Compression Swivel Adapter
   2. Tubing and Emitters/Micro Jets
   3. Accessories

Assemble:
1. Arrange the tubing as near to the preferred plants as possible.
2. Install the manifold and connect it to your water source.
3. Attach the ½” tubing to the ¾” female hose thread compression swivel adapter.
4. Turn the water on to flush the tubing. This will remove unwanted dirt and/or debris.
5. Use the key punch to create desired holes for emitters, micro jets, or places to extend ¼” tubing from the mainline.
6. Place emitters and micro jets in desired locations. Using barbed fittings and ¼” tubing will extend your drip coverage if necessary.
7. Flush the line again for a few minutes and then place the end caps where necessary.

Guidelines/Tips

½” Tubing: When using ½” tubing, use the standard 300 ft./300 GPH rule. On a single irrigation system, your mainline ½” tubing should not extend more than 300 ft. away from your water source. Also, your total GPH output of water in a single zone should not top 300 GPH.

¼” Tubing: When using ¼” tubing, use the standard 30 ft./15 GPH rule. On a single line of ¼” tubing, extension from the mainline ½” tubing should not exceed 30 ft. Also, your total GPH output for any ¼” tubing should not go over 15 GPH.

Before installing of your tubing, you should expose it to the direct warmth of the sunlight. Unwinding the tubing and pulling it in both directions will also make the tubing more flexible and easy to use.

When using a key punch on ½” tubing, a firm twisting movement will produce an optimal hole. A popping noise will usually sound when done correctly.

If inserting ¼” barbed fitting is hard on your hands, using pliers on one end of the fitting and pushing it into the hole could be easier.
